Oranjestad/The Bottom – A Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture & Science delegation is scheduled to visit Saba and St. Eustatius at the start of next week. This visit is intended for the senior civil servants to get a first hand impression of the developments in Education thus far and in particular to establishment of the Expertise Centers on the islands.
The delegation will arrive in Saba over the weekend where they will be welcomed by Henriette van Heijnsbergen, Saba’s Process Manager for Education Care. Meetings are planned for January 23 and 24, with schools, the day care centre and the Centre for Youth & Family.
The delegation will continue on to St. Eustatius on respectively January 25th and 26th. Process Manager for Education Care for St. Eustatius, Mrs. Camellia Berkel, has informed that a series of meetings are scheduled with stakeholders in education including internal guidance officers, care coordinators of the various schools, members of the collaboration of schools.
Expertise Centres will be established on the islands within the coming year to offer much needed educational care in the areas of academic-, behavior-, social- and emotional development on Saba, St. Eustatius and Bonaire.
The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture & Science delegation comprises, Marije, Feersma Hoekstra, responsible for international policy, Astrid Bos, Director of Primary Education and Marielle Visser, Director for secondary education. They will visit Bonaire on January 27th – 28th for meetings with partners in education there.
