Not only was there a new team on the block this past election, but there is also a team for the St.Maarten’s day relay race. Some of the Candidates from the United People’s Party will be competing in this year’s 23rd Annual St. Maarten/ St. Martin’s Day around the island relay race on November 11th 2010 as Team UP-setters.
In keeping with the essence of the run and in tribute to our islands’ pioneers, Team UP-setters have chosen the local pioneers as their individual running names. Pioneers such as Tanny & Da Boyz, Claude Wathey, Tata Boy, Alec the Butcher, Lokay, Lasana Sekou, Evelyn Gibs, Milton Peters, Eulalie Duzanson and Raoul Illidge will be proudly displayed on the rear of the t-shirts during the race.
Team UP-setters have been training for the run over the past 4 weeks and includes: Minister Rhoda Arrindell, Parliamentarian Jules James, Clifton Brown, Kenneth Serrant, Rosina Romeo, Jesus Richardson, Angelique Martis-Romou, Veronica Jansen-Webster, Glen Kemble and Gina Illidge.
This team made history this past September during the Island elections and continues to be involved in the Community. They are truly keeping it UP!
