The Civil Registry Department is currently working on a solution where it relates to the issuing of new driver’s licenses.
The department is unable to issue new licenses because of the pre-printed text on existing cards which has the official position of the Lt. Governor, a position that no longer exist under the status of country Sint Maarten.
All stakeholders have been informed about the situation. A temporary solution has been proposed and the department is awaiting confirmation. Once a decision has been taken the public will be informed.
Even though the driver’s license machine is functioning, the department is unable to issue any licenses based on the aforementioned.
