St. Maarten’s Day is approaching, not sure what to do? Well look no further, PEACE IS Paradise is here once more! Now in its 4th year, the annual breakfast fundraiser will for the first time in its history, donate the proceeds to two local primary schools "Violence Prevention Program": The Oranje School and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School.
Recipients in the past were: SXM Academy PSVE, Sundial School and SXM Vocational School. Relevantly themed "We need Peace Now"; this years’ breakfast is expected to be a success as support for the breakfast have been on a steady increase over the past three years.
The PEACE IS Foundation in collaboration with the Sunrise Rotary Club has launched an Essay Competition with the 5th & 6th Graders of both schools. The students will compose an essay of at least 500 words on the topic "What would you do to increase PEACE in your School?" The top five essays from each school will be selected and then the top three essays will be chosen and prizes will be given to these students.
Just as previous years, the patrons can enjoy breakfast at two restaurants conveniently located on the Boardwalk: Taloula Mangos and Harbour View Restaurants. The breakfast is from 8:00-11:00am and tickets are available for only $10.
This year, PEACE IS looks forward to the continued support from the public as the Foundation continues to dedicate itself to the prevention of violence and conflict in our schools.
Patrons are invited to come out in your numbers and support this St. Maarten’s Day Breakfast by purchasing tickets for this worthy cause. Tickets can be obtained at the Oranje School, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School, Harbour View Restaurants, and various PEACE IS members.
