Furthermore, a so called "office preparation area for waiters", will be created and the walls on the Pond fill side will get windows and new tiles. The 15 year old furnace and a leaking walk-in-freezer will be replaced.

All renovation activities are geared towards meeting the end terms of PSVE Hospitality (presently 34 students) as well as the end terms of SBO level 2 Chef, a two year course that has just started with 20 very enthusiastic students.

The hospitality sector is St Maarten’s prime source of income and with an updated kitchen & restaurant, and in the near future a kitchen for higher levels of SBO education in the envisioned new SBO School, Department of Educational Research, Policy and Innovations (DERPI) wants to encourage more youths to engage in this career path.

The renovation plans were developed by SVOBE, Sundial School, DERPI and Independent Consulting Engineers NV in collaboration with Caribbean Engineering & Consultancy Company.

The activities, totaling ANG 240.386,00 are planned to be completed in December 2010 and will be financed through USONA with Dutch Development Funds for Youth and Education.
