St John’s Antigua – President of the West Indies Cricket Board, Dr. Julian Hunte sent commendations to the Sagicor High Performance Centre Team following their successful maiden tour of Canada.
"The Sagicor HPC Team represented the West Indies admirably, putting in commendable performances which resulted in impressive multiple victories against teams which compete internationally on a regular basis," Dr Hunte said.
"This group of young players has demonstrated that we have a solid base of natural talent in the Caribbean and the WICB is making every effort to harness this pool of talent in an effort to strengthen West Indies cricket," Dr. Hunte noted.
"Their performances encourage and motivate us at the WICB that we are on the right path and that we must remain stringent in our commitment to grooming and developing young talent for the future benefit of West Indies cricket," Dr. Hunte outlined.
"The developmental process will take time but we must not waver in our commitment to it. The Sagicor HPC Team has shown us, in a very tangible way, that successes can be had once we unfailingly commit to the developmental process," Dr. Hunte said.
Dr. Hunte also thanked Cricket Canada for hosting the Cricket Canada Summer Festival at the Malton Cricket and Sports Club and for inviting the Sagicor HPC Team to participate.
"The WICB has always had a strong relationship with Cricket Canada and we look forward to continue working closely in the future to further augment that relationship," Dr. Hunte said.
Host Canada and Bermuda were the other teams involved in the Cricket Canada Summer Festival.
The Sagicor HPC Team’s next engagement is the WICB Regional 50 Over Tournament starting October 14th in Jamaica.
