WILLEMSTAD — It seems that everything having to do with Venezuela, is presenting problems these days.

After the strike at the refinery, now the venders of the fruit-barks in Punda are complaining. They are not allowed to display their fruit on a part of the sidewalk, and a close watch is kept on the fulfillment. This has disadvantageous consequences for the sales, as fruit and vegetables are not readily sold and therefore rotting. "We only ask for a small part of approx. 40 centimeters to place our crates with fruit and vegetables", most of the venders say. Although the situation is not that bad that the barks would return to Venezuela, the dissatisfaction increases by the day. The vegetable and fruit suppliers regularly sailing back and forth between Curaçao and Venezuela are also complaining. A cruise ship had recently moored at the small wharf so that a fruit bark from Venezuela was left without a mooring spot, and apparently, alternatives measures had not been taken.
