The Reach Out and Touch Foundation handed out some much-appreciated trophies it sponsors each year for the annual St. Maarten Table Tennis Foundation’s end of year youth Tournament at the Sports Auditorium, Pondfill.
All participants this year received trophies for taking part with the main trophies going to the first and second place winners in male and female Junior and Senior categories.
Board members of the St. Maarten Table Tennis Foundation and table tennis coach, Franklyn Radjouki, were also present to make the presentation of trophies along with ROAT president Joe Dominique and ROAT Secretary, Edward Benjamin.
President Joe congratulated all 30 youngsters for turning out for the tournament and urged them to continue to improve their game.
"They would be even more encouraged if more parents turned out to root for them and especially if they are there to see them receiving their winning trophies," said the ROAT president.
The coming year the St. Maarten Table Tennis Foundation is hoping to set up new programs to get parents and guardians more actively involved in the sport to take it to another level on St. Maarten.
Table Tennis coach, Franklyn Radjouki says there are some greatly improved players in the group of youngsters and it’s his hope that with the assistance of parents and sponsors in the community they will be given every opportunity available for them to excel in the sport.
