Police Reports: Armed Robberies, Traffic Accidents, Smugglers caught!

Armed robbery/ Victim injured.

On Friday November 27th the man with initials K.K. filed an official, report with the Special Robbery Unit stating that on Thursday November 26th at approximately 11.30 p.m. while riding on his motorcycle in the direction of Dawn Beach, he was blocked in his path by gray colored Toyota Corolla

At the same time and unknown man riding on a scooter arrived on the spot. This man pushed him at which time he lost balance and fell to the ground with the motorcycle landing on his right leg. While on the ground another man stepped out of the gray Toyota holding a gun in his hand and threatening the victim with it. Both suspects then beat and robbed the victim of all his belongings. After committing this act the suspects rode off with the motorcycle of the victim leaving him behind in a helpless condition. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and the transported to the Sint Maarten Medical center for further treatment. At the hospital the victim was informed that he had a broken leg. The Special Robbery Unit is investigating.

The Special Robbery Unit has reported, that with regards to the spade of armed robberies that took place recently in which two suspects were arrested, that the investigation still ongoing and that the suspects involved were busy committing these robberies in several area on the island such as, Suckergarden, Cole bay, Cay Hill, Simpson bay Middle region, South Reward, Pelican, Philipsbug and French Quarter. On the first day of their arrest, they had admitted to 5 robberies. As the investigation continued the suspects have admitted to have committed seven more, making the total of armed robberies they have committed to a total of 12. The investigation is still ongoing.

Traffic Accident/ One person hospitalized

On Sunday November 29th at approximately 11.30 p.m. police patrols and traffic dept. were sent to G.A. Arnell Blvd. better known as "Link One" for a serious car accident where persons involved were injured. On the scene the traffic Dept. encountered a head-on collision between two private cars with license plates 155ZAJ971 and P-8286. According to the investigation done by the traffic dept. is that the drive of the car with french license-plate while driving down the hill towards Philipsburg for some unknown reason ended up on the left side of the street colliding head-on with oncoming traffic. As a result of the impact the car with Dutch license-plate ended-up on the western side of the street partially against the hill-side. After the accident the driver of the French Car fled the scene leaving the female passenger stuck in the wreckage. This victim was removed from the wreckage by the Fire Dept. using the hydraulic cutting machine know as the " Jaws of Life". The victim was the transported to the medical center for further treatment and where she is admitted for observation. The driver and passenger in the Dutch vehicle suffered minor injuries and could go home after treatment. The driver of the french car that fled the scene has not yet been located. The Traffic dept. is still investigating this case.

21 persons being smuggled in to Sint Maarten caught.

On Monday November 30th at approximately 01.00 a.m. a report came in to the Central Police Dispatch, that a "go fast boat" had just came in to the Mullet bay beach area and was letting-off a large amount of possibly illegal persons. Several patrols and Immigration Officers went on the scene where they encountered 21illegal persons from Haiti on the beach. After dropping these persons off the boat took off for open waters. All persons were taken to the Philipsburg Police Station where they will be held for processing and to insure their safe return to their country. The Immigration dept. is investigating this matter.
