TelEm Group mobile service provider TelCell is experiencing technical problems with its pre-paid network and as a result thousands of customers using the company’s pre-paid and TC-lite services can expect interruptions in these services.
The network became affected at approximately 1:00 p.m. Tuesday and as of 7:00 p.m. service has not been restored.
TelEm Group technicians and engineers have been troubleshooting the network to identify the cause of the problem so far without success.
Various recovery protocols were followed by TelEm Group technicians to bring the network back up. When the different tiers of this protocol expired, a call was made for remote assistance from the network manufacturer overseas.
The network shutdown is affecting thousands of TelCell mobile subscribers throughout the island who are not able to connect to the network or receive calls.
TelEm Group wants to assure everyone that all efforts are being made to restore service as soon as possible.
As of 7:00 p.m. the technical troubleshooters could not properly identify the root cause of the problem affecting the local pre-paid network and therefore an estimated time for restoration of the network could not be given.
Further information will be provided to customers via the electronic and print media as soon as it is available.
TelEm Group sincerely apologizes to its customers for inconvenience caused by this interruption in its mobile service.
