Leader of the Democratic Party of Saba and radio talk show host Dave Levenstone announced on Monday that now that the registration for the European Parliament elections is closed he will be campaigning and supporting the candidacy of the Aruban born with Saban roots Nadya van Putten.
Levenstone said that he is of the opinion that persons on Saba who has register to vote should be made aware that Ms. van Putten roots is in Saba and she deserves the right to also obtain some votes from Saba during the elections of June 4th 2009. Ms. van Putten is number 5 on the Groen Links party in Holland and it would be an honor for us to vote for her.
Her deceased father Mr. George van Putten was a good mentor to many Saban students in the past and although he is no longer with us he would have been proud to know that the voters on Saba found it fitting to support his daughter. I knew George well and I also know her uncle Mr. Roy van Putten of the MEP party well.
I am calling on the few voters on Saba that took the time to register not to allow themselves to be misled by anyone in the elections and vote for Ms. van Putten. She is a young person and deserves some support especially in the Windward Islands. She is a daughter of the soil, so let us rally behind her.
