The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams attended the celebration commemorating the 164th anniversary of the Abolishment of Slavery and the unveiling of the Lady Liberty statue at the Agrement round-about on Sunday. Dignitaries at the event were treated to a skit and poem centered on the emancipation of slavery and numerous recitals of poetry and song. Wreaths were eventually laid at the statue of lady liberty to commemorate the emancipation of slavery in the French Caribbean.
