Amongst others, more than three kilos of cocaine had been confiscated during a number of house searches with these militia-members.

Press-officer of Justice, Giselle Veen-Jonkhout confirmed this morning that an investigation into a number of Antillean militia-members had already been started since the beginning of this year. This occurred after the Kmar-command had received information on abuses within the Antillean militia, whereby members were supposedly involved with drug smuggling.
Subsequently, the OM ordered the Kmar and the KPC to conduct a collective investigation into the alleged indications of drug related criminal activities of militia-members. In this, it was revealed that a number of Antillean militia-members had abused facilities of the Royal Navy on Curaçao. They had mailed cocaine in postal matters to the Netherlands through the so-called military mail service.
Apart from committing illegal drug smuggling, the collective investigation also revealed that a few militia-members had displayed very violent behavior. The investigators had collected evidence on these suspects being direct involved with violent offence.
After thorough preliminary investigation, Kmar and KPC proceeded to conduct a number of simultaneous house searches yesterday in several districts and the apprehension of suspect militia-members. The following members of the Antillean militia had been handcuffed: S.F., R.L., S.P. and R.M. The first three suspects had been arrested in their barracks, while M. had been apprehended on the public highway.
The investigators had visited the following addresses: Kaya Augusto Fraai in Otrobanda, Rooseveltweg in Sta. Maria and residences in De Savaan, Ser’i Dòmi and Kaya Ser’i Mahuma in Mahuma. The house searches were conducted under supervision of the examining magistrate, whereby the investigators had stumbled across more than three kilos of cocaine.
Veen-Jonkhout announces that the investigation will continue and that additional apprehensions of militia-members and non-military accomplices are not precluded.
