The Reach Out and Touch Foundation kept a promised to the children of the St. Maarten Medical Center Pediatric Ward Thursday last when members turned up to present a check following a recent fundraiser.

ROAT said part of the monies raised during a recently held gala dinner fundraiser would be given to the Children’s Ward at the hospital to help purchase play and activity equipment. The group had previously presented the children’s ward with various puzzle and reading books to stock an Activity Center that is being established.

ROAT Treasurer, Dennis Rombley and Foundation Secretary Edward Benjamin presented the check last Thursday to hospital representatives, Supervisor Pediatric Ward nurse Gwendolyn Arndell, Outpatient Manager and Coordinator of donations, Mr. Rob Heil and Social Worker and HRT spokesperson, Mr. Minerva Maccow.

ROAT president, Joe Dominique once again thanked members of the public for responding to the foundation’s request to assistance in providing for this much-need project for the local hospital and the children receiving treatment there.

"We are hoping the equipment will be in place before Christmas so that the Children’s stay during the holiday period will be brightened up a little as they exercise their bodies and minds in a safe and positive way," added the ROAT president.
