The courtesy meeting was called by the Ambassador to exchange ideas and to seek how we can foster more business relationship between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Sint Maarten Private Sector.

Several issues where discussed during the meeting where the Ambassador exposed different possibilities that the Government of Taiwan could offer in business trainings and business trade, especially for the Sint Maarten Small Entrepreneurs. President Carty emphasized on the need to find ways to assist the 600 plus young Sint Maarteners who are presently finishing their studies abroad. In that regard, it was agreed during the meeting that facilitating the process for them to visit the Republic of China (Taiwan) to seek opportunities, could be considered. Ambassador Wu even proposed to the Chamber to identify 2 local Small Businessmen who will take part of the training that the Government of China (Taiwan) offers annually for the Caribbean.

Other issues discussed are the facilitation of Trade Shows, the different ways to use the Sint Maarten Hub for the distribution of more goods from Taiwan and even consider establishing a sort of "Permanent Expo" of goods from the Republic of China in Sint Maarten.

The meeting was cordial and opened several trends of thoughts that both parties promised to further explore.
