On Tuesday afternoon Nagico Insurance agent on Saba, Mr. Rudy Zagers presented a cheque to the organizer of this years Saba Summer Festival Calypso Competition Managing Director of Power Sound System International Mr. Dave Levenstone.
The monetary sponsorship will go towards the trophies for the winners in this years calypso competition. Mr. Zagers in presenting the cheque said that Nagico Insurance is very satisfied with the sponsorship for this year event.
In receiving the sponsorship Mr. Levenstone said that he is very much humbled to have received the donation from Nagico Insurance for the calypso competition which will be held on Friday, July 31st 2009. I appreciate this donation as it will go towards the trophies for the winners of the competition. My company decided that this year we could not sit back and allow the Summer Festival to go on without trying to put on a calypso show. We felt that there is no summer festival without a calypso competition and that is why we took this on.
Sponsorship on the whole has been very hard to get this year, and we are grateful to Nagico Insurances and especially Mr. Zagers for his input. We have a total of 6 calypsonians competing for the title of King or Queen. Levenstone said that we can still do with some more donations in order to help cover the cost of the competition.
