TelEm Group technicians will continue with the transfer of more than 500 residential and commercial telephone lines in the Cole Bay area on Wednesday, March 2.
The company is in the process of transferring telephone lines from TelEm Group’s legacy DMS 100 digital switch to a more modern software-based CS2K Softswitch.
Some 360 lines have already been transferred in the Cole Bay area and Wednesday’s grouping of 500 numbers represents the 2nd stage of transfers in this area.
Close to 4500 lines have been transferred from DMS100 digital switches in the Dawn Beach, Ebenezer, Belvedere, Simpson Bay and Cole Bay areas to date.
CS2K Project Manager and Supervisor Switching Networks, Mr. Kenneth Blijden, says work will begin in Cole Bay from 9:00 am Wednesday morning to minimize the impact on residential and business customers.
As a result of the cutover and to ensure numbers are reconnected immediately after the cutover, TelEm Group technicians will not be carrying out any repairs or new installations in the area until the cutover operation is completed.
