Commissioner Wescot-Williams commends St. Dominic High School and St. Maarten Academy Students on success with CXC exams
Commissioner of Education Sarah Wescot-Williams, would like to commend St. Dominic High School and St. Maarten Academy students for a job well done in taking the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) exam and at the University of Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary education (IGCSE).
The Academy announced this week that the school recorded a 93 per cent college pass.
Reports from St. Dominic High School indicate that students Angelique Scantleberry (16) and Jamila Oliver (17) were not only successful, but did exceptionally well in their CXC exams.
Both students succeeded in Science and Business with passes in nine and eight subjects respectively.
"This is positive news coming from the St. Maarten Academy and the St. Dominic High School, and is even more encouraging in these times of continuous negative reports about our youth and their activities. We are delighted and recognize the hard work of the Academy students and Angelique and Jamila for their outstanding educational achievements at St. Dominic High.
"Education is the springboard by which young people can progress towards a better future. Angelique and Jamila have both displayed the determination to do well and are fine role models for their peers. I am sure your parents and families are very proud of your achievements.
"My heartiest congratulations to all the students who successfully sat the exams," Commissioner of Education Sarah Wescot-Williams told the Government Information Service (GIS).
