The Tallahassee Sint Maarten Foundation (TLH-SXMF) presents its Man of the Year Award to Mr. Isidore York better known as ”The Mighty Dow” on Saturday January 29th 2011.
The award plaque was presented by the Honorable Minister of Culture Rhoda Arrindell on behalf of TLH-SXM foundation to Steel Pan Master Isidore York "Mighty Dow"York.
Bernard Hunt also presented a token of appreciation to Dow as President of SMPC.
Mighty Dow was also presented the Ambassadors Award in 1988 at the Sint Maarten first Musician Awards organized by Control and Arthur Lugisse.
A Trip has been organized to Tallahassee for Dow’s group, brother Neville York and his Father Chester York for 2011. Our Steel Pan Talent needs to be part of our culture export product with our sister city Tallahassee in the form of an exchange program.
FAMU Florida A&M University is ready to be involved with his ability to train students as part of their musical program, Minister Rhoda Arrindell showed much interest in a cultural exchange with FAMU when she spoke to Mr. Jones and Dr. White. An invitation to the Marching 100 Band of Florida A&M Band was given which takes place on emancipation day July 1st, 2011.
