GOVERNMENT TEAM WINS 1st NAGICO CELEBRITY BASKETBALL GAME FOR UJIMA FOUNDATION

The NAGICO Celebrity Basketball Game was a huge success as the Government team representing the Ujima foundation won the night against the Private Sector who represented the I-CAN foundation. The government team won by 16 points with the final score being 47 to 31. UJIMA was presented with a check for NAGICO Insurances CEO, Mcsood Amjad totaling ANG 3000.00 at the end of the night for having the team who represented them win. The I-CAN foundation received a total of ANG 2500.00 for having the private sector come in second place.

Playing for the government team were Les Brown, Miguel De Weever, Dr. Cornelius De Weever, Janchi Leonard and Frans Nieuwenhoven. Also on the government team were Wrensly St. Jules, Robert Pantophlet and Van Stralen, who were all hand picked by the Ujima foundation to play for them. Playing for the private sector was Robert Dubourq, Vincent Haakmat, Dwayne McRae, Samuel Allen, Roberto Wilson, Elton Richardson, Isidor "Mighty Dow" York, Juri Essend and Sharilyn Winston. Mr. Calvin Turner was specially picked by the I-CAN foundation to play of that particular foundation.

The atmosphere was full of energy as the game started with the official introduction of the players. It was at this particular time that each player was escorted to the center of the court by 2 members of Motiance Dance School who donated their time to be cheerleaders for the nightâ??s game. The game began after the introduction and a short warm up session. Referees for the celebrity game were Mr. Emmanuel York and Patrick Lainez.

The match was basically dominated by the government team who held the private sector to 4 points for the majority of the first half while they built up a very comfortable lead. The offense of the government team was lead by Dr. Cornelius De Weever who ended the match with 12 points and title of Most Valuable Player. It is in the second half that the private sector started to play a more unified type of game and was able to cut the lead of the government team significantly. The Mighty Dow ended the game as the MVP of the private sector team with a total of 8 points.
