Georgian president on Aruba

 

ORANJESTAD — The Georgian president is on holidays on Aruba. He arrived last Sunday together with Premier Mike Eman (AVP) from Bogotá. Both had attended the inauguration of the new Columbian president Juan Manuel Santos.

He will stay on the island for a few days along with a considerable number of security people. For that matter, his security team had to leave all weapons behind upon arrival at the Reina Beatrix airport. "They had applied for a firearms licence prior to their arrival, but that was not granted. Aruba does not allow security people to be in possession of fire arms", Augustin Vrolijk, head of the Directorate Foreign Relations stated before this newspaper this morning. The Georgian leader will leave Aruba tomorrow and continue his journey the United States. Saakasjvili, President of Georgia since 2004, is married to the Dutch Sandra Roelofsen.
