Marines from Marine Squadron Carib and the boat platoon trained together with the Infantería de Marina Colombiana from May 11 to 22 during Exercise Estribo in Colombia. In the challenging river area near Turbo, both units worked intensively together to exchange knowledge, experience, and procedures during operations on and around the water.
Colombian and Dutch marines trained side by side in a realistic scenario. The emphasis was on strengthening operational skills and further intensifying cooperation between both marine corps.
During Estribo, the marines practiced various tactics and procedures for operations in difficult-to-access terrain, such as the dense jungle along the riverbanks. The units trained on, among other things, water movements, operating in small teams, and conducting operations in challenging conditions.
Both units increased their operational readiness and learned from each other’s working methods and experiences. The participants perceived the training as intensive and educational. They look back on a successful exercise in which mutual cooperation was further strengthened.
