The 2010 Summer Sports Camps is for youths between the ages of 10 to 21 years who seek training by professionals that will eventually take them to the next level.

The Mission, according to Coordinator Emmanuel York, is to lead, train and develop young men and women to compete on a higher level in the sport of Basketball. In addition, our organization is committed to developing these athletes in becoming strong leaders by supporting and assisting them at the highest level athletically, socially and academically.

Our vision is to provide an environment to develop young athletes into elite performers. Our goals are to participate in the Dutch Caribbean Games, Kingdom Games, Carifta Games, CBC, CAC Games and eventually the World Junior Championships and in all Regional Soccer, Basketball & Track & Field Tournaments

This gesture Commissioner of Sports Frans Richardson supports, and he urges as many youths as is possible to register for these workshops, for they will provide an opportune training and life experience.

York approached me to explore the possibilities about the summer camp, and I support the effort whole heartedly because it gives the young people something to do, something to learn.

We are appealing to the sports clubs, associations, and athletes to get registered; this is an opportunity that should not be allowed to pass us by as these coaches are offering their services to assist our athletes in helping them to better their skills in their respective sports.

There is also an event by the Jamaican Basketball Development Inc. Kids First Foundation. I have to note that the Jamaican Basketball Development Inc. Kids First Foundation in the USA (a non profit foundation) will also bring a group of basketball coaches to assist with the camp (jamaicabasketballdevelopment.com) – the contact/liaison officer for the foundation is Mrs Leona Romeo-Marlin.

These camps are done in collaboration with the St. Maarten Track & Field Association, St. Maarten Soccer Association, Soualiga Youth Basketball Association, and the St. Maarten Youth Beat Foundation.

Athletes can pick up or drop off a Registration form with any of the above mention organizations. Forms can also be picked up at all Secondary School Gym teachers, the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, Raoul Illidge Sports Complex, and the L. B Scott Sports Auditorium.

On the French side forms can be collected at the Sports & Culture Department.
