Foundation for Public Education St. Maarten Established
On Tuesday, July 15th 2008 the "Foundation for Public Education St. Maarten" was established.
Leader of Government and Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Sarah Wescot-Williams appeared before Notary Boekhoudt of "Boekhoudt and Steeman" and signed the documents on behalf of the Island Government . Mrs. Claudette Forsythe-Labega, Interim Director of Welfare, co-signed as president of the Foundation.
The establishment of the Foundation is the first very crucial step in the privatization process of Public Education. The aim is to improve in areas such as organization, management and education.
The Foundation will present its plans for the coming years to the Executive Council. These plans will include the steps to be taken to continue the privatization process of the Foundation.
