Next weekend members of the National Special Assistance Personnel (LBB) of the Judicial Institutions Service (DJI) will be dispatched to Bon Futuro prison in Curaçao to provide assistance to security in this institutions.
The DJI personnel will be deployed within the scope of the Bon Futuro improvement program. In June, State Secretary Bijleveld of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, together with State Secretary Albayrak of Justice and the Minister of Justice of the Netherlands Antilles, signed a cooperation agreement to work together intensively during the next three years to improve the situation in Bon Futuro and to see to it that the institution meets international standards. Earlier this year a management team of DJI was already detailed within this cope.
The thirty LBB personnel members will be dispatched to Curaçao in phases during the next few weeks. They will rotate every six weeks. In total the LBB will be active in Bon Futuro during a period of six months. The LBB members will be accommodated in the naval barracks at Suffisant.
The expenses of the assistance will be covered from means made available earlier by State Secretary Bijleveld for the implementation of the Netherlands Antilles Security Plan.
