On Thursday afternoon (Dec. 3) at the Sonesta Great Bay Beach Hotel, the Directorate of Programs and Projects concluded its Project Leader workshop training for civil servants with a short ceremony.
Commissioner Xavier Blackman was on hand to distribute the certificates to participants who had to attend every class; he congratulated the participants for their hard work and input into the workshop and knows that they will use this knowledge to the best of their ability but also to share this newly gathered knowledge with other civil servants in the office.
In cooperation with USONA (the Dutch funding agency), the workshop, was held on November 26 and December 3, is aimed at improving and fine tuning the project management skills of project leaders within Government.
The Project Leaders workshop also focused on guiding the participants on how to prepare and execute projects on time, within budget, and maintaining the project objectives. The trainers for the course were Director DPP Udo Aron and staff member at DPP Loekie Morales.
The most important elements of the workshop leaders were to enhance: essential elements of Project design; project execution; organization; preparation of a work plan; communication and information of stakeholders; schedule and time management, and budget and cost management.
There were 15 civil servants representing a cross section of different departments and directorates within Government who took part in the training.
