Since years, KTK has a cooperation with the Columbian towing service company. "The agreement is bearing fruit", the local towing service company, a subsidiary of Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), confirms. The Dutch company Damen Shipyards had built the Pagai in 1974 and it is now the oldest of the KTK-fleet. Originally, the boat belonged to a Dutch company, but the late Jimmy de la Fuente had purchased it later on, and named the boat Anna. After his death, KTK took over the boat and made it suitable for harbor activities.
During the minimal period of one year, the Pagai will carry out the line handling in the harbor of Coveñas, near Cartagena. This is one of Columbia’s largest oil export harbors. A KTK-crew made the voyage with Pagai to Columbia in three days and flew back afterwards. Intertug will arrange for the crew.
KTK has expanded its fleet considerably during the past years. The Orca is expected to leave the shipyard next year. This ocean towboat with a length of 40 meters will become KTK’s largest ship with international orders as its target. In comparison: the Pagai has a length of 16 meters.
