Prime-Minister leaves for New York to attend UN-meeting

WILLEMSTAD — The Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles, Emily De Jongh-Elhage, will be traveling on official business to New York from September 20th up to and including September 25th.
As a member of the Kingdom-delegation, which is conducted by the Dutch Premier Jan Peter Balkenende, De Jongh-Elhage will participate with various meetings during the ministerial week of the opening of the 64th General Meeting of the United Nations, amongst which the opening meeting of the ‘summit on climate change’.

At the invitation of H.M. Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, Wendi Murdoch and Indra Nooyi, Premier De Jongh-Elhage will participate with the ‘4th Important Dinner for Woman’ where amongst others Sarah Brown, wife of the British Premier Gordon Brown, will also be guest speaker. The purpose of this dinner gathering is to help realize the ‘Millennium Development Goals’ by the United Nations.
In this framework, the Premier will also attend a lunch offered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States, Hillary Rodham Clinton, to the female government leaders and ministers of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, various discussions and chance encounters will take place, amongst others with Premier Balkenende and the Kingdom Ambassador with the United Nations, Herman Schaper.
The delegation of the Netherlands Antilles consists of the Minister-President, the director of the Directorate Foreign Affairs (DBB) Carel de Haseth, and chef of protocol Kenneth de Haseth.
