NAGICO Insurances N.V. accepted eight (8) summer interns this year. NAGICO has always been very generous in allowing a select amount of students on the island to be given the opportunity to get a working experience, but this is the first year in which as many as eight have interned with the company.
The interns are divided amongst various departments and offices in NAGICO, such as the Front Office, Receptionist, Claims Department, Accounts Department, IT Department and the Marketing Department. All interns have had the opportunity to learn the functions and processes pertaining to the host department as well as, insurance and peoples skills.
An intern of the Scanning Department, Tasha Aventurin said enthusiastically, "I learnt a lot in the time that I’ve been here. I’ve realized that this job requires teamwork, and I’ve learnt to subdue to certain things in order to get the job done."
Rudy Brooks, intern of the Accounts department stated, "Working here at NAGICO has been a wonderful learning experience so far. It’s peaceful and quiet working in the accounts department. I’m learning quite a bit here and have gotten a better understanding of how the accounting process is done in the work field. I really like the working relationship everyone has with one another. I could really see myself working at a company like NAGICO after college."
Marketing department intern Nerissa Cornelia views the NAGICO working experience as preparation for her future. "This working experience will no doubt start me on the road to success. Marketing has always been very interesting to me and working in this department has helped me to realize that I would consider a career in marketing. The job requires attention to detail. I learnt that there is a high level of accountability which is expected of the department since its function impacts on the whole operation. The job also gets easier once you believe you can do it."
The Human Resources Manager, Esmeralda Maria explained, "The working experience that NAGICO gives to students is very educational. We give them the opportunity to learn about the company and broaden their knowledge as to what a corporate company offers. The summer working experience that NAGICO offers boosts the company’s image in the community and more importantly give the students the experience they desire."
