Teacher education students from the University of St. Martin (USM) gave three puppet shows to children from the afterschool program at Belvedere Community Center on Monday, May 11th. This was part of the final project for EDU 233 Children’s Literature class. According to USM instructor Patti Maier, the students formed three small groups and each group wrote their own play, made the puppets, and performed the show. The scripts taught lessons about not opening the door to strangers, being happy with how you look and learning to share. The children enjoyed the show which lasted for approximately 30 minutes.
