For four years the white, bold, cement lettering on the edge of the pond pronouncing the University of St. Martin (USM) stood gathering dust and mildew, while weathering the environmental elements.
However, on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, this all changed with the intervention of the USM Ambassadors. President of the Ambassadors Magdalene Bary and Vice President Leisel Toss took brushes and white paint to the signage, providing the necessary facelift.
"This is just our small part in the upkeep of our educational institution. We know the value and importance of USM’s image in this community," said Bary.
She added that plans are also underway to see if the colors of the bulbs illuminating the signage at night can also be changed.
"We need to take pride in our University and come together as students to help out with making our school look beautiful. We need to make it a place where you can say with great honor that this is where you study for a better future," Toss said.
They were supervised by facilities staff Mr. Gary Solomon. The facelift to the signage coincides with the newly constructed upper floor of the existing USM building. USM Ambassadors are university students selected as role models to represent the institution at various functions.
