More than twenty members of the Curacao Police Corps (KPC) are participating in a one-week training program offered by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Curacao.
The training covers a wide range of topics including shooting range weapons training, officer safety, investigative techniques and tactical analysis, and legal procedures for intelligence-sharing and extraditions. At the commencement of the training program on Monday, U.S. and Curacao officials stressed our common goals in improving local security and fighting international crime.
DEA Country Attaché Greg Garza stressed that it is important for officers to do their job well, but the most important part of their job is to make sure they go home safe at the end of the day. Part of the training will prepare law enforcement officers to practice safety procedures while on duty.
Similar training sessions will be held on St. Maarten next week and on Aruba on a later date.
