Sekou in St. Thomas for recital and school visits

Sekou was in the Virgin Islands to deliver the 28th annual Black History Month Lecture (2/27/09) for the African Diaspora Youth Development Foundation (ADYD) at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). His "lecture" took the form of a "recital narration" from his latest two books 37 Poems and The Salt Reaper – Poems from the flats, said Jacqueline Sample, president of House of Nehesi Publishers (HNP). Sekou’s Salt Reaper CD and the books of other HNP authors were on display at the recital and during the book and CD signing at Dockside Bookshop. ADYD principals Eddie and Jaribu Bobo also organized an "author’s visit" for Sekou with students and teachers of the Charlotte Amalie High School, the Montessori School/Int’l. Academy, and UVI.
