"Will strengthen our community and thus also our country"
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams on Monday applauded the successful opening of the Charlotte Brookson Academy of the Performing Arts.
In her comments the Prime Minister stated that she commends and congratulates the Ujima Foundation on successfully opening the school; "I am extremely happy at the opening of the Charlotte Brookson Academy and would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to the Ujima Foundation, the University of St. Maarten and the Ministry of Education in what is our first school dedicated to the performing arts here on St. Maarten. This is an important step for our young country as we now have the opportunity to reinforce our society by having a school that focuses on Theatre, Arts, Health and Physical Education. This will strengthen our community and thus also our country and I would sincerely like to wish the students, teachers and parents the best of luck and success," commented the Prime Minister.
In June of this Year the Prime Minister held a meeting with the Board of the Charlotte Brookson Academy to discuss matters related to the performing arts school. The principal purpose of the Charlotte Brookson Academy of the Performance Arts is to offer students a "global experience of learning." and will target each child’s intellectual, cognitive, creative, physical and emotional development while preparing their students to reach their highest potential as scholars, artists, leaders, and global citizens. Classes for the new Academy will be held on the premises of the University of St. Maarten.
