In preparation for the start of the new school year, Minister of Education, Culture, Youth & Sports (MinECYS) Hon. Silveria Jacobs paid a working visit to most public schools to assess their level of readiness.
The Hon. Minister is happy to report that all schools will open as schedule on Monday morning. The minister would hereby like to extend words of appreciation and thanks to the management and staff of the various schools, Ministry VROMI, staff bureau Ministry ECYS, contractors and all others who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend to ensure that the schools would be ready to reopen on Monday.
The construction of the driveway and parking area at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School is nearing completion, and is not yet in use. As such parents and bus drivers are advised to exercise caution and patience when picking up and dropping off students.
Members of the control unit will be present regulate the traffic, while Management and staff of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School will be on hand to guide the students into the school. The minister is hereby requesting the full cooperation of the general public to ensure a smooth start of the new school year and minimize traffic congestion.
Parents and guardians who have not been able register their children in a school are requested to report to the Division Public Education Services at the Vlaun Building opposite the Post Office in Philipsburg as compulsory education is in effect.
