The Chairman of the General Audit Chamber submitted his notification of resignation to the Board of the General Audit Chamber in a letter dated May 20th 2012. Mr. R.S. Tuitt was sworn in as the Minister of Finance on Monday, May 21. As per the National Ordinance on the General Audit Chamber as well as the Constitution, the function of member of the board of the Audit Chamber and Minister of Finance are incompatible.
Mr. Tuitt was the chairman of the General Audit Chamber from the start of the institution in 2010. His term, along with the other members, was for two years.
Operations will not be affected by the departure of the Chairman. Mr. Ronald Halman will serve as acting chairman. The remaining members of the board will continue to serve until the completion of their terms later this year.
