St. Maarten Housing Development Foundation will reward eighteen tenants of Belvedere and the mobile homes today, Friday, for their on time and up-to-date rental payment.
All tenants who maintain a zero balance with the foundation were entered into the yearly raffle that offers as prizes cheques amounting to one or more months of their rental amount. Notary Meredith Boekhoudt selected the winners by the luck of the draw on Monday.
The Zero Balance exercise stems from the "Help Us to Help You Campaign," launched in April 2004 in an effort to promote timely rent behaviour. The programme has been rewarding for tenants and the foundation, as more rent is paid, allowing for better maintenance.
In a press release, the foundation pointed out that tenants may notice that the concept of three winners has been changed, due to popular demand to accommodate more winners.
The first prize goes to Nilva St. Jago of Union Farm, while the second prize winners are Low Estate Road 69, 79 and 133, Prospect Estate Road 64, and Cayenne Road 24.
Third prize winners are Prospect Estate Road 86, Buck Hole Estate Road 32, Brasilia Road 1 and 6, Delight Estate Road 10 and 18, Foga Estate Road 5, Pendant Cactus Road 29 and Sugar Mill Estate Road 20.
The foundation has invited all lucky winners to receive their incentive during a prize giving ceremony in its Belvedere office parking lot this afternoon. It also encourages all tenants to follow the example and will reward those tenants that demonstrate great sensibility in hard economic times. "We understand their dedication to being on time and up to date with the payment of bills."
The foundation’s financial situation is directly dependant on the good paying behaviour of all its tenants. When the tenants are all paying their rents in time, the foundation will be in a better position to address the necessary repairs on the houses, and plan for a regular maintenance scheme to prevent the need for bigger restorations.
