From May 9 up to 20, the complete Board of financial supervision (College financieel toezicht – Cft) is visiting Curaçao and Sint Maarten on the one hand, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba on the other hand. During this visit the new secretary of the Board, Mr. Kees van Nieuwamerongen, will be introduced. As per July the two years term of the former secretary, Mr. Geert Bergsma, will terminate.

The Minister of Internal Affairs and Kingdom Relations (Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties – BZK) has appointed Mr. Kees van Nieuwamerongen as the new secretary of Cft for Curaçao and Sint Maarten and for the BES-islands, based on a proposal of Cft President Mr. Hans Weitenberg. This appointment is per July 1st, 2011 for a period of three years.
Kees van Nieuwamerongen has fulfilled several (management) positions at the Ministry of Finance. He was amongst others Head of the Antilles team between 2006 and 2009, and in that position he stood at the basis of the various laws regulating the financial supervision. Afterwards the new secretary became director of Administration Assistance and project manager of the Audit Management Guide of the Health Sector at the ministry of Public Health Welfare and Sports. Kees van Nieuwamerongen studied General Economics at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
