The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot Williams met with Advisor to the Government of Aruba Mr. Patrick Schmidt at her Cabinet on Friday. The main topic of the meeting was to explore the possibilities of alternative energy projects on St. Maarten. Initial contact between Mr. Schmidt and the PM were had at the Rio +20 Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June of last year.
Mr. Schmidt has over 25 years of diverse experience in corporate, legislative, and policy matters. His principal focus has been advising foreign companies and governments on the development and financing of transportation, technology and innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Schmidt has advised the Government of Aruba on their alternative energy, infrastructure and tourism-related projects and has also represented foreign and domestic clients on policy matters before the U.S. Congress and Executive Branch.
