We should all remember the motto for St. Maarten, Semper progradiens; always move forward, always progress."
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams joined participants from around the Caribbean Region at the Church of God of Prophecy Caribbean Leadership Conference 2013 at the Sonesta Maho Resort on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister wished the gathering a fruitful conference and a wonderful time of worship on St. Maarten: "As I heard the energy that this room is filled with this I know that those wishes are being fulfilled," commented the Prime Minister.
"It is a good feeling to stand here, as the leader of the Government of St. Maarten, to wish you a conference which I hope will leave you reinvigorated and recommitted to your calling. The theme for this conference is "Go Forward"; those two simple words are charged with so much meaning. We should all do whatever it takes for you to "Go Forward" in your Ministry and in your community. We should all; and with this I mean all of us whether it be in Government, in Churches and in the Community we should always strive to go forward and to remember the motto for St. Maarten Semper progradiens, which means to always move forward, to always progress," continued the PM.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the freedom of religion that St. Maarten enjoys and urged the participants to consider those who do not share that privilege; "I think that this island is blessed in that we are able to worship and preach in freedom. Where government and churches collaborate for the well being of the community. We should contemplate that fact and we should also recognize that there are those that do not enjoy this freedom and we should keep those individuals in our minds."
He PM concluded by stating that it was her pleasure to wish all of the participants an enjoyable conference and that all would leave recommitted to their calling.
