Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Honorable Silveria Jacobs met with Dan Marmar and Zahira Marmar- Hilliman of ‘Participant Sxm’, on Friday January 25th 2013.
‘Participant Sxm’ presented a proposal to the Minister regarding the training of top students to teach younger children and to assist them in doing so at the schools. This would be done in a pilot program in three community schools which would empower youth to make tangible positive changes to their neighborhoods and foster and celebrate excellence and achievement among particularly male secondary school students.
The program will give youngsters the opportunity to pass on knowledge as well as share their passion for a particular topic, subject or activity. In addition this is a program that has proven to build both the students and the teachers. With their initiative ‘Participant Sxm’ hopes to teach responsibility and reciprocity within the community and give our younger students honorable role models to emulate.
Minister Jacobs supports this program as it is in keeping with the Ministry vision as it promotes youth in leadership.
