Winners in the just concluded Sugar Mass 41- St. Kitts and Nevis’ National Carnival – have received commendation from St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.
"Special congratulations go out to Banker whose highly imaginative troupe, emphasizing the importance of agriculture, won first prize. Ronnie Rascal made J’ouvert, J’ouvert this carnival! And who will ever forget Small Axe and Drop, Cover, Hold On?," said Prime Minister Douglas.
The St. Kitts and Nevis leader said the folklore troupes were phenomenal and hailed King Konris’ sixth title.
"Konris did it again, and the Junior calypso king, young Nathaniel let us know that outstanding talent is in great supply amongst our young people," said Prime Minister Douglas during the first edition of Ask the Prime Minister for 2013 on Tuesday.
"Christine Walwyn and Ashley Allers stepped forward and put their stamp on this carnival, while the lovely and talented Ms. Zinga Imo took the 2012 Ms. St. Kitts crown. Most dramatic of all was the large number of troupes on display this carnival. The number was far larger than we have had in many, many years. Congratulations again to all," said Prime Minister Douglas.
Pointing out that Carnival is nothing without the people, Prime Minister Douglas thanked "everyone whose exuberance and energy helped to make our just-completed carnival such a joyous occasion, and I want to thank the police and the defence force for all they did to keep it so."
