Minister of Education Hon. Silveria Jacobs addressed the graduates of the six Catholic Schools on Wednesday at a ceremony held at Port de Plaisance Resort and Spa.
The Mass officiated by Father Manuel was touching and well received by all present, according to the Minister. Jacobs commended the School Board and Management Teams and teachers for providing the students with a firm foundation rooted in Christian virtues, morals and values.
"You are now equipped with a well-rounded education, not just in academics but in all areas. Your parents and your school have provided you with the foundation, and if you try to see Jesus in all people you will be truly successful in all you do."
The Minister also pledged to do all within her power to bring Information Communication Technology (ICT) in education up to world standards in order to allow the technology natives the opportunity to excel in the ways they are naturally inclined to do.
"We have a lot of catching up to do with the changes in education, and we applaud the progress some schools have made on their own. It is now up to the Ministry of Education to make these opportunities available for all students across the board," Minister Jacobs said on Friday.
The Minister also encouraged the parents to continue to be a support to their children as they were entering the most difficult phase of their lives at this time of pre-adolescence and the teen years.
"Our children need our love, support understanding and constant encouragement to deal with the pressures that they will face in the new school situation, the new friends and with the extra freedom. Allow them to grow in responsibility as well," Minister of Education Hon. Silveria Jacobs said on Friday.
The Valedictorians of each school was awarded one year tuition at the High School they have opted to attend by the Minister.
