Chamber of Commerce supports Harbor Group of Companies Project

In a brief ceremony Monday, Chamber President Arthur Bute and Harbour Group CEO, Mark Mingo exchanged views on the initiative undertaken by the St. Maarten Harbor Group of Companies for the future development of CCTV for Philipsburg and the Port of St. Maarten commencing with the just completed first phase at the Simpsonbay Bridge.

The Chamber of Commerce is wholeheartedly supporting the Harbour initiative by providing an extensive surveillance camera study piloted by the Chamber in the areas of Philipsburg, South Reward at the schools and all roundabouts, this report is an extensive study done in June 2010 by local established consulting firms. The Chamber President stated: "the Chamber recommend for the development of St.Maarten that there will be more Private sector and Government partnership, this will create more economic activities for the County of St. Maarten.

Mr. Mingo thank the Chamber of Commerce for their contribution and support in this undergoing CCTV project that the Harbour Group of companies has started with the Blessing of the Minister of Justice. We believe that the success of this project is not depending on one’s only but with collaboration of team work. We are working on getting all the different entities together to support this project that will be a benefit for country St. Maarten.

The Minister of Justice, the Honorable Roland Duncan has endorsed the CCTV project and has applauded the initiative by the Chamber of Commerce to share the report with the Harbor Group of Companies.
