Last week Tuesday Nature Foundation Manager Tadzio Bervoets officially visited the Sint Maarten House in The Hague and met with Minister of Plenipotentiary Hon. Mathias S. Voges with respect to European Union (EU) cooperation on environmental matters.
During the meeting with Minister Voges, Bervoets gave an update of the activities of the Nature Foundation, including the status of the Man of War Shoal Marine Park, the country’s first national park; other conservation efforts conducted by the foundation; fundraising and lobbying activities currently being initiated by the Nature Foundation.
Minister Voges gave an outline of his Cabinet’s activities regarding lobbying for environmental activities for the country.
Discussions were also held with regards to cooperation between Non-Governmental Organizations, Government and entities within the EU on possible funding initiatives concerning conservation initiatives in the country.
Bervoets was also given a tour of the Sint Maarten House.
Bervoets trip to Europe is in connection with the foundation’s lobbying efforts with various representatives and entities of the EU regarding possible assistance to the Nature Foundation concerning its conservation activities on the island.
