Last week the Dutch Media Authority, called "Commissariaat voor de Media", visited Bonaire, Statia and Saba for the first time.
In accordance with the Media Act BES the Authority also has a task in the Dutch Caribbean. The aim of this visit of the Dutch Media Authority was orientation on the developments in the field of radio and television. The Dutch Media Authority doesn’t deal with printed media.
Tineke Bahlmann, chairperson of the Dutch Media Authority: "For us it was important, and also a pleasure, to meet the island governors and representatives of the island councils and radio and television stations on Bonaire, Statia and Saba. We had many useful and fruitful meetings which will certainly help us to do our work the right way."
The Dutch Media Authority is situated in Hilversum, The Netherlands, and will be represented in The Dutch Caribbean by Sedney Marten, employee of the The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) of Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland.
