In response to question of doubt as expressed by some members over a possible postponement of the WICSU/PSU Board election next Thursday, WICSU/PSUhereby inform our members and the general public that the Board elections scheduled for November 03 will continue as planned.
At our General Membership meeting of September 16 members agreed to conduct the election on November 03, as it was the information then that the monarch would in fact be visiting the island the following day November 4th. The decision of this General meeting has been fully communicated to all members, whether directly, through electronic mail or via the media. In addition, all will recognize that November 03 is a normal working day, and that the affairs of WICSU/PSU does not in any way impact nor interferes with any of activity that has been planned for the Queen’s visit.
Voting will be from 8: 00am – 4:00pm at the WICSU/PSU headquarters on Walter Nesbit Rd in Philipsburg. Also in view of the extreme traffic situation en-route to the airport, a mobile ballot station will be utilized, and will call at the workplaces outside of Philipsburg where WICSU/PSU has members. A schedule of stops has been arranged, and managers of the affected business places have been contacted, have given approval, and will notify their employees of the time when the unity will be present.
WICU/PSU acknowledges that while the election is of critical importance to the Union, it cannot be allowed to affect the productivity of the entities we represent. On the day of election, members are urged to turn up promptly at the voting station, cast their ballot, and return to their post in the shortest possible time.
