Rates and packages for 3G plus services were announced during Friday’s official launch party.

The event took place at the Holland House Hotel where teams of TelEm Group personnel demonstrated the new product and signed up customers to a range of new 3G package plans.

"It was a fun night for our invited guests, but it was also a working night for the 3G Plus team," said Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Mr. Brian Mingo.

Assisted by state-of-the-art video presentations, Mr. Mingo informed the invited guests about all that mobile provider TelCell will be offering to customers in the coming weeks and months.

"Our customers have informed us they want a network to drive their iPads and IPhones and Smartphones and we are now providing them with that network," said Mr. Mingo.

TelEm Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mrs. Helma Etnel said Friday’s official ceremony comes several months after the company began offering 3G services to customers locally.

Since April, customers have been able to utilize the mobile data service in separate phases and more recently the 3G Voice service.

"We are promoting responsible use of the 3G network at this time because a fee is being charged and we will be assisting our customers with notifications when they reach the limits of their subscription packages so that they can budget their use efficiently," said Mrs. Etnel in a welcome address to customers and invited guests.

The CFO thanked the TelEm Group Supervisory Board of Directors for their continued support and welcomed Prime Minister and Shareholder Representative Mrs. Sarah Wescott-Williams and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Theo Heyliger.

Mrs Etnel also thanked Minister of Justice, Mr. Roland Duncan and Minister of Education, Rhoda Arrindell for also attending the 3G bash.

TelEm Group Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Eldert Louisa, who had the responsibility of delivering the new network after work began on installation in September last year, said it was a tremendous task that required the combined technical efforts and expertise of many personnel behind the scenes.

"Sometimes it looks like our networks work like magic, but that magic is provided by those who work very hard behind the scenes. Sometimes, because a customer may have a personal problem with their service, them to believe that the service is not up to par, but I assure everyone this is not the case. We have one of the best operating 3G networks in the entire Caribbean," said Mr. Louisa.

Mr. Louisa said the 3G plus Voice and mobile data network is now fully migrated from the company’s 2G network which will continue to provide 2G mobile service to compatible handsets and to customers who do not wish to make use of the additional data features and speed of the 3G network.

TelEm Group Sales & Marketing Manager, Mrs. Carmen Lake-Reyes said promotional campaigns will be taking place throughout the week and with the build-up to Christmas when a host of new promotions will further encourage customers to go the 3G route.
