As a result of a meeting held with all stakeholders, Traffic Police dept, Control Unit and the general contractor Windward Roads, today at the Ministry of VROMI, department of New Projects Development & Planning it was decided to convert the Union road into a "two way " traffic hereby restoring the route from "Harley Davidson by the junction of the SOL/Tackling gasstation into it’s original situation.
The Cake house road will remain a "one way" road for traffic going in the direction of Cole Bay. At the junction with Union road it will be prohibited to make a left turn onto the Union road.
The Orange Grove Road will also remain in its present condition as a one way street.
Assistance by the Government traffic Control Unit will be present during the peak hours of the traffic congestion.
Cashew tree Drive (side road next to St. Matin cars) will be closed off for a period of 3 weeks, starting Monday October 24th, 2011. This will enable the contractor to carry out the neccessary upgrading works on the Welfare Road.
The above mentioned changes will go into effect as of Friday October 21st, 2011.
