The participants of the First St. Maarten GOLDEN STARS Karaoke Festival are eagerly preparing to take to the stage on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Senior Citizen Recreation Center in the Hope Estate. Some 20 talented golden stars, all above 55 years of age, are excited to showcase their musical talents and take the audience back in time with great songs of the fifties, the sixties up to mid seventies.
The First St. Maarten Karaoke Golden Stars will be singing songs by the Platters, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Skeeta Davis, Gladys Knight, Shirley Bassey, Bob Dylan and many more musical giants of yesteryear.
A singalong session is also scheduled during the Golden Star Karaoke Festival to accommodate those who are eager to sing but prefer not to sing on stage. During this session, the entire audience is invited to sing along with songs such as: Sad Movies, Let it be me, Island in the Sun and others.
The Golden Star Karaoke Festival is not a competition; it is a great show aimed at showcasing the talents of (sometimes forgotten) former great singers and performers as well as the talents of those persons who never sang in public before, but are very eager to get the opportunity to showcase their skills.
Although the participants are all of golden age, the Golden Star Karoake Festival is open to all ages and the younger generations are particularly invited to come and enjoy great tunes of yesteryear.
Tickets to the Golden Star Karaoke Festival are on sale at $10, in advance and $15,- at the door. Tickets are available at Van Dorp Eddine bookstore and from several participants of the Festival. The organizers encourage those interested in attending this great Karaoke Festival to secure their tickets as tickets are selling out fast.
The Festival will start at 7:30 pm. The organizers are requesting everyone to be on time. Snacks and refreshments will be on sale.
